PROXIMITY P Reader
PROXIMITY compact is a single door access control system. All of the electronics are within the housing of the reader. Compact systems can be installed to many doors over a site, all using the same cards. The P series readers are supplied with a choice of black or white fascias that can be fitted in the final stages of installation. Replacement fascias are available to Paxton Access registered installers free of charge.
Installation - The compact reader has two wires which connect to the lock and two wires which connect to the power supply. There are two wires for connection to an exit button if required. The cable exits centrally from the back of the reader making drilling and mounting very accurate. Be sure to avoid mounting on metal surfaces or near other proximity readers as this will affect the read range. Once installed present the enrolment card to the reader. All the tokens in the pack are now valid. This completes the installation.
Operation - User tokens are valid and ready for use once installation is complete. Every user token is supplied with a corresponding shadow token. As user tokens are issued, the name of the user is marked on the shadow card. If a user is to be barred, or a user card is lost, the shadow token marked with the user's name is presented to all readers on site. This simple action invalidates the user card. Another user card may be issued for that user.
Additional features can be programmed using the PROXIMITY function card pack. These features include zoning which allows you to limit access by token colour.
Features
- An access control system that's easy to use
- All cards are immediately valid
- A lost card can be deleted in seconds
- Extra card packs available from stock
- Control over access by token colour
- IPX7 rated - suitable for external use
- Up to 10,000 users on one site
PROXIMITY Vandal Proof Reader
PROXIMITY compact vandal proof reader is a single door access control system with all of the electronics within the housing of the reader. Compact systems can be installed to many doors over a site, all using the same cards. The compact vandal proof reader's cylindrical construction means that all the control electronics may be buried in a wall. This reader is ideal where access control is required on a door at risk of vandalism. The end cap is used as a marker, so users know where to present their tokens. A black and a white end cap are provided with the reader. Six additional colours are also available through registered installers, allowing the most harmonious choice to be made for the building.
Installation - The compact reader has two wires which connect to the lock and two wires which connect to the power supply. There are two wires for connection to an exit button if required. It is not recommended to mount the reader in metal as this will affect the read range. The vandal proof reader is buried into the wall. The most secure mounting is in a blind hole (see illustration below). Once installed, present the enrolment card to the reader. All the tokens in the pack are now valid.

As user tokens are issued, the name of the user is marked on the shadow card. PROXIMITY Metal Reader
The PROXIMITY metal reader is for use with Switch2 and Net2 systems. It is contained in a cast metal housing with a satin chrome finish. The result is a smart, rugged reader. As the reader is already housed in metal, its operation is affected less by fitting within close proximity to other metal objects. Installation - The reader is wired as shown on the control unit label. A backplate is provided which facilitates accurate mounting. Security screws are provided to mount the reader to the backplate.
Operation - A token is read by holding it within close proximity to the reader. Once a token has been read the control unit looks up the access permissions of that user.
